JewishCare WA

JewishCare offers a wide range of social welfare services in order to meet the changing needs of the Perth Jewish Community as it grows and incorporates new families from all parts of the world.

The sevice is available to new and established members, of all ages, of the Perth Jewish Community.

Social Welfare Services include :

• A Professional Social Work Service is available to families and individuals.
• Supportive Programmes include information and advocacy, emotional and grief counselling, and referral to specialist agencies.
• Financial Assistance is available for food, rent, household bills, medication and school clothing or educational requirements.
• Material aid in the form of household goods for families when requested. Donations of furniture, white-goods and other items received from members of the community are passed on.
• Ongoing support is available.
• Migration and Settlement is an important part of our service. JewishCare has helped with the settlement of migrants from overseas and families relocating from the Eastern States.

Other Services include :

• Accommodation - new arrivals are assisted in a unique way. The Rae Lenny Shalom House is a fully furnished house within the Perth Jewish Community which provides short-medium term stays for local persons needing crisis accommodation, and a safe and comfortable landing spot for migrants on arrival into Perth.
• An Employment Service has been started to match prospective employers and prospective employees.
• An Outreach Service assists families moving into independant accomodation. Kits of household items, excluding furniture, are available for hire until personal goods arrive.
• Carers may be arranged for personal care and socialisation to provide home help to enable elderly or convalescing persons to remain independently in their homes, or for those who have moved into aged care centres.
• Restitution - a special service providing support for Holocaust survivors seeking repatriations has expanded to include new global funds as they become available.
